Getting Started

So you want to post an article on the Geo Growers’ Blog….

On the blog home page on the right hand side of the screen about halfway down the page, you will see the word “Register.” Double-click on this link.

Now you can choose your user name and enter your email address. Remember to use a valid email address so that you can retrieve the password that will be sent to you when you register. The password assigned to you by the system will probably be a long string of numbers and letters, but you can change this to something easier to remember once you’ve successfully logged in for the first time. Try highlighting the password in the email so that you can copy and paste it into the password login screen.

Once you’ve received the email with your user name and password, you can use this to log in to the blog. Just follow the link included with the password notification email to reach the sign in screen and fill in the blanks.

Now that you’ve logged in, you can post an article to the page!

You should be looking at a screen with the word “Dashboard” in the top left corner. From here you can easily fill out a simple post using the form in the upper right hand corner entitled “QuickPress.”

Trouble finding your Dashboard?

If you are looking at the blog and you are already signed in,
then just below where you clicked on “register” earlier, there should now be a link called “site admin.” This is your way behind the scenes onto your Dashboard page. From this new screen, you can make all sorts of adjustments to customize and create new posts. Try clicking on “Posts” on the left hand side of the screen. From here you can create and publish posts. There are also different subject category check boxes that you can select and assign to your new post to help categorize the information and to help readers find it more easily.

When you’re done just click “log out.” It’s that simple!

After you post your article, don’t worry if it doesn’t show up immediately. You may have to click refresh or sometimes restart your internet browser in order to see the changes on the blog.
